Abstract: This study investigates the integration of nature-based learning in early childhood education curricula, focusing on its impact on cognitive development and environmental awareness among young children in Cross River State, Nigeria. The objective is to explore effective strategies and benefits associated with outdoor education programs. Employing a mixed-methods approach, quantitative data is collected through surveys from 200 educators and qualitative insights are gathered through interviews with parents and environmental specialists. The sample size is determined using Taro Yamane's formula to ensure statistical validity. A case study approach examines a local preschool known for its successful implementation of nature-based learning activities. The reliability coefficient score validates survey data consistency. Findings indicate that nature-based learning enhances creativity, problem-solving skills, and ecological literacy in early childhood. Recommendations emphasize incorporating outdoor classrooms, nature walks, and sustainable practices into early childhood curricula to foster a deeper connection with the natural environment
